Big Cass returned to WWE on Monday’s Raw from Casey’s Center in Des Moines, Iowa, attacking Je’Von Evans after Evans had beaten Ethan Page.
It is his first WWE appearance in eight years. The return had been teased since the July 13 Raw through a series of vignettes that closed on the date 8/3.
Cass was with WWE from 2011 until his release in June 2018, working under the names Big Cass and Colin Cassady. He is best known there for his tag team with Enzo Amore, and for the split between the pair shortly before he left. He was released following personal difficulties that he has since spoken about publicly, and the vignettes WWE ran leaned into that ground, framing the return around what he has come back from.
He spent the intervening years rebuilding. Cass signed with AEW in 2022 and worked there as Big Bill until his contract expired last month, a run through which he has been open about his sobriety.
Amore did not appear on Monday. Reports before the show had suggested he might also be returning, though he was not featured in any of the vignettes.
Cass is 39 and turns 40 later this month. His return follows that of Baron Corbin, who came back earlier this year and won the United States Championship from Trick Williams at SummerSlam on Sunday.
Roman Reigns opened Raw and Oba Femi also appeared, on a show largely given over to the fallout from the weekend.
