The new WWE Monday Night Raw announce team is going to sound very different in just a few weeks after the draft.
The WrestleVotes news account, which has a track record for breaking news stories not reported anywhere else, is saying that the plan is for Vic Joseph and Dio Maddin to be the new Raw announce team.
Maddin is former NFL player Brennan Williams. He played for the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New England Patriots. He also wrestled for Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling promotion as Marcellus Black and signed with WWE as part of NXT in 2016.
Vic Joseph is the former announcer for Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore. He has been doing play-by-play for 205 Live, NXT UK and Main Event. Prior to his pro wrestling career, he worked on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland covering Browns games.
I asked someone in WWE about this story and I was told that there is absolutely smoke to this story but the decision on the Raw announce team is not set in stone and could change between now and the draft. The source did say that Joseph and Maddin are the most likely candidates to take over the chairs currently occupied by Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Renee Young.
For those of you wondering about the future of the current Raw team, Michael Cole and Corey Graves will call the action on Friday Night SmackDown on FOX and Renee Young will host the Fox Sports 1 studio show on Tuesday night’s. Cathy Kelley will also be involved with that show.
