After making the decision to turn Big E into a singles star, WWE slowly built him up as a credible top star who made his way through the rankings. He started out as the Intercontinental Champion on SmackDown before winning this year’s men’s Money in the Bank ladder match and cashed in the contract on Bobby Lashley to win the WWE Title during a September episode of Raw.
This ended Lashley’s reign at 196 days, just four days short of the impressive 200-day mark. Big E has since successfully retained the title over the likes of Lashley and Drew McIntyre.
Now, Big E is closing in on a milestone of his own as he has been WWE Champion for 97 days. He’ll surpass the 100-day mark this coming week.
WWE has stacked the odds against him in storyline for his next defense as champion as he will defend the WWE Title against Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Lashley in a fatal 4-way bout at the upcoming Day 1 pay-per-view event on January 1st.
