Big E comments on Jeff Hardy’s WWE release

Big E has given his thoughts on Jeff Hardy being released by WWE on Thursday. As previously reported, Hardy declined WWE’s offer for help and rehab.

Hardy was sent home after last Saturday’s WWE house show in Edinburgh, Texas where he looked sluggish and eventually left in the middle of the six-man tag team match that saw him team with Drew McIntyre and Xavier Woods against Roman Reigns and The Usos.

The WWE Champion took to Twitter to comment on the news by writing the following:

“Jeff Hardy is so beloved by his fans and his peers. I’ve never heard a negative word about him & he’s always treated me with such kindness. Just wishing him and his family the very best.”

Hardy’s first run with the company ended in 2003 under similar circumstances as he was asked to go to rehab, but didn’t and was released. He came back in 2006 where he became a top star before leaving on his own terms in 2009.

After a run in TNA Wrestling, he returned to WWE with his brother Matt at WrestleMania 33 in 2017. In this year’s Draft, he was moved from Raw to SmackDown. He was slated to wrestle Baron Corbin on Friday’s SmackDown.
