WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion spoke with The Irish Mirror as part of the hype for SummerSlam weekend in Toronto.
Among many questions, Big E was asked if he would accept an invitation from Donald Trump to visit the White House. Big E made it clear that he is not a fan of the celebrity WWE Hall Of Famer.
“We are not a big fan of what’s going on with the administration and I can’t say it’s something I’d be excited to do,” Big E said. “I have no desire to go to the White House currently. We have a lot of problems in our country. It’s a beautiful country, and there’s a lot to celebrate and applaud. Just a lot of the rhetoric that comes out of the White House is something obviously we’re not supportive of. I have no desire to go to the White House anytime soon.”
He concluded, “When there’s a man in the White House that we really respect then I think there might be an opportunity to go. I don’t think there’s any invitation that’s going to be extended anytime soon anyway so I don’t think that’s really a concern.”
Donald Trump and Vince McMahon are long-time friends but McMahon appears to have distanced himself from trying to link WWE to Trump while he is President so I wouldn’t expect any WWE Superstars to go to the White House anytime soon.
Big E’s comments echo the sentiment of many athletes around the country who have declined to go to the White House after winning championships in their sport.
