Ever since AEW launched, WWE has taken steps to prevent the growth of the rival promotion. Fans have also been divided as there are some who have taken a side – purely an AEW fan or just a WWE fan – while there are some fans who support both promotions.
AEW has worked with several different promotions including NJPW, NWA, AAA, Impact Wrestling, and more. It has been touted as the forbidden door being opened regarding wrestling promotions working with each other.
WWE Champion Big E spoke in an interview on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox of Barstool Sports about wrestlers from both AEW and WWE talking about each other on social media.
“Yeah man, if that’s how you feel, do your thing. I’m all for it. Speaking for me, I think competition makes everyone better. I have friends over there. I have people who I think are incredibly talented, might not be friends, but I’m a fan of so much that is going on over there.”
He said he knows the fans like the back and forth between wrestlers and he finds it entertaining as well, but that’s not his thing. The reason for that is because he does have friends in AEW. He thinks competition is great for everyone.
“The idea of [working relationship]…I don’t know if it’s ever feasible, but is that forbidden door going to be open here, between us and them, imagine that, that would be incredible. Something like that I think would be really interesting.”
