Big E is on fire right now as a member of the New Day but it took a long road to get there.
When the former USA Powerlifting Champion signed with WWE he cut his teeth in FCW which was WWE’s developmental territory before it became NXT. He was given the name Big E Langston at the time and kept his last name until after moving to the main roster.
But it turns out Big E had a different idea for his gimmick when he first arrived in WWE. The 5-time WWE Tag Team Champion recently revealed he wanted to have a postal worker character with the name Mel Mann. That is pretty clever, but thankfully WWE higherups shot it down.
As Big E dances his way into WrestleMania this year he won’t be hosting the Show Of Shows alongside Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods because they’re in a big tag team triple threat match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. But you never know if Mel Mann could become a real thing down the line because I wouldn’t put anything past them at this point.
Almost 9 years ago, when I got signed, my very first pitch was to be a wrestling postal worker named Mel Mann. Shockingly, it was shot down.
