Big match advertised for SummerSlam is not happening, according to WWE

Last weekend, we noted that local advertising in Toronto lists The Undertaker vs. Drew McIntyre for WWE SummerSlam. The match makes sense since they are set to wrestle each other at Extreme Rules on Sunday and a singles match would be the appropriate way to end the feud.

However, WWE is saying that this match is not happening and the ad is just being used for ticket sales.

Dave Meltzer was told by a WWE source that Taker vs. McIntyre is not the actual plan right now for the show. So, I guess we’ll see if they are just covering up for the ads getting out early or if they really do have a different plan for McIntyre and Taker.

Since Taker is being advertised for the show, that would suggest that he will have a match on the show against someone and SummerSlam makes sense since it’s their biggest show of the summer.

The only other opponent that I think could make sense for Taker right now is Bray Wyatt but if they did that match, the only logical finish has to be Wyatt beating Taker. If not, then it would kill his momentum after months of vignettes. I’m told that Wyatt is due back in the ring imminently and he has a couple of meet-and-greets coming up.
