The shocking implosion of The Vision on Monday Night Raw was a major turning point in WWE, and a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shed light on the long-term creative plans that are now in motion, including a potential main event for WrestleMania 42. According to Meltzer, the tentative plan for the event in 2026 is a one-on-one match between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.
“Seth Rollins was tentatively scheduled to wrestle Roman Reigns at WrestleMania,” Meltzer wrote. “I don’t know this, but I have been told enough things to where I expected there would be a turn on Seth Rollins at some point because the whole thing with this faction was that it was not about Seth Rollins. It was about Bron Breakker and making Bron Breakker the next Roman Reigns.”
The turn on Rollins, which saw Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed lay out their former leader and align with Paul Heyman, was reportedly due to a legitimate injury that Rollins sustained at the Crown Jewel premium live event. While the betrayal may have happened sooner than originally planned, the end goal, according to Meltzer’s report, was always to use the popular and established Rollins to make Breakker into a top-tier star.
The rivalry between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns is one of the most significant in modern WWE history. They came up together as two-thirds of The Shield, have been both allies and bitter enemies, and have faced each other in multiple main events. A singles match at between the two would take the rivalry to another level.
