WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will return on Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. ET from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, N.Y., where it will air on NBC and be simulcast on Peacock.
This marks the first time that the special will air since August 28th. The special first ran from 1985-1991 on NBC and in 1992 on FOX. WWE brought it back in prime time in March 2006 when it returned to NBCU for Raw on USA Network. That lasted until August 2008.
While GUNTHER defending against Damian Priest was originally slated for this event, WWE opted to book it at Survivor Series: WarGames later this month. What hasn’t changed is the expected main event.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the main event is slated to feature Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens. Owens’s match with Randy Orton is speculated to take place at Survivor Series.
As previously reported by WrestleVotes, WWE is planning to hold the second edition of the quarterly special on January 25th.
