Big update on Edge-WWE return rumors

As noted last week, there seems to be a lot of smoke to those Edge-WWE return rumors. It’s a story that has been talked about backstage among wrestlers and others who work in the company.

Edge signed a deal a few months ago and, as reported by Dave Meltzer, the belief on Edge is that he is returning to the ring. It’s interesting because Edge was cleared to spear Elias during the SummerSlam Kickoff show. WWE would never allow him to do that with neck issues unless he was cleared. Edge has told people that he feels better than he has in many years. In addition to that, he has gotten himself into great shape.

Mike Johnson discussed the Edge rumors on a recent PWInsider Elite audio show. Here is what was said:

“We’ve been told that Edge signed a new deal. We’ve been told that it has a very nice upside to it financially and you have to think it’s not just a legends deal where they just have him show up and have him do promos. So, I think there’s more smoke to the fire with Edge than there is with Paige as we record this.”

Edge has been trying to squash the rumors by saying he’s not cleared but the reality is that most wrestlers will deny these types of stories. For example, John Morrison denied he had signed with WWE when he had indeed agreed to terms. Morrison finally made his WWE return last week on Friday Night SmackDown.

We may get answers on Edge’s in-ring return by the Royal Rumble because it is being rumored by people in the company that he will be part of the Men’s Rumble match. At this point, Edge seems like a strong possibility for WrestleMania. However, he has been ruled out of one potential main event match. Click here for more on the story.
