Big Update On Liv Morgan’s WWE Return

WWE Superstar Liv Morgan has officially completed filming her scenes for the upcoming movie “Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo,” a project directed by the acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike. According to a report from PWInsider, Morgan, who was in Japan for the shoot, made a significant impression with her performance in what is described as her first dramatic acting role.

Sources close to the production told PWInsider that Morgan “absolutely ‘crushed'” her role. The feedback indicated that she was a “complete natural on the set,” demonstrating an ability to “easily transition from the pro wrestling space to filming for a movie.” This strong debut in a dramatic capacity reportedly “blew everyone, including experienced industry veterans, away with her work.”

“Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo” is an international twist on the “Bad Lieutenant” film series, which began with Abel Ferrara’s controversial 1992 film starring Harvey Keitel. This new installment, penned by Daisuke Tengan (known for “Audition” and “13 Assassins”), stars Shun Oguri as the titular “Bad Lieutenant,” a corrupt, gambling-addicted police officer in Tokyo. Liv Morgan portrays the daughter of a politician whose disappearance draws an enigmatic FBI agent (played by Lily James) to Tokyo to investigate, leading them into the yakuza underworld.

Takashi Miike is a prolific and highly regarded director, known for a vast and varied filmography that often includes extreme violence, dark humor, and surreal imagery. His notable works include “Audition,” “Ichi the Killer,” and “13 Assassins.” His involvement brings significant auteur credibility to the “Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo” project. Miike was quoted in a statement about the film, saying, “A team of incredibly talented actors and crew has gathered in Tokyo. Now. I’m about to throw a fastball straight down the middle of your strike zone – no tricks, no gimmicks. Get ready for the ride with us.”

For Liv Morgan, this role marks a significant step into the acting world beyond her guest appearance on the “Chucky” television series. Taking on a dramatic role in a film helmed by a director of Miike’s international standing, alongside established actors like Shun Oguri and Lily James, is a noteworthy development in her career outside the wrestling ring.

According to the PWInsider report, Liv Morgan is “expected back on WWE programming very soon,” with previous reports from Fightful Select indicating her filming was scheduled to wrap around May 16th, and she was expected back in the United States by May 17th.
