Big WWE Angle Happened Sooner Than Planned

A new report has revealed that the heel turn by Asuka on her tag team partner, IYO SKY, which took place on last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw, was not the original plan. According to PWInsider, the angle was pushed forward due to last-minute changes to the show.

Asuka’s WWE Heel Turn Pushed Forward

PWInsider is reporting that the heel turn and the breakup of the Kabuki Warriors was originally intended to be a “slow burn” storyline that would have played out over the next few weeks.

However, the plans for last night’s Raw had to be reconfigured after it was announced that Women’s World Champion Naomi was not medically cleared to compete. The cancellation of her scheduled main event match against IYO SKY led to the decision to move up the timeline for Asuka’s turn.

A New Feud For The WWE Women’s Division

The angle took place after IYO SKY’s non-title loss to Roxanne Perez, a match that was made to fill the void left by the canceled main event. Asuka and Kairi Sane, who were at ringside, caused a distraction that led to SKY being pinned by accident in storyline.

After the match, Asuka and Sane stood over their fallen former partner, officially signaling the end of the popular faction. The full report on the backstage changes can be found on PWInsider.com.
