Big WWE Survivor Series weekend match is not happening due to injury

WWE Survivor Series

A big match that was planned for WWE Survivor Series weekend will not take place.

As reported on WWE Backstage by Ryan Satin, Johnny Gargano is injured so his rumored match with Finn Balor for NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019 will not be happening anytime soon. That would have been one of the biggest matches of Survivor Series weekend and would likely have been a Match of the Year contender.

Satin noted that Gargano is dealing with a neck injury. WWE has been playing it safe with Gargano as he has only wrestled a handful of matches this year. They've been keeping him off most of the live events and saving him for the big TakeOver shows and there has been concern about his injury status because he hasn't been working a full schedule.

Although WWE has not announced the match, Balor vs. Gargano seemed likely for TakeOver, because it was Gargano who was first attacked when Balor turned heel a few weeks ago.

This year's WWE Survivor Series will take place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL on November 24. WWE will be running three shows at the same venue that weekend with NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019 scheduled for the night before Survivor Series and Raw on 11/25.
