We noted last night that one of the reasons why Bill Goldberg went over on Brock Lesnar was because there are plans for a rematch. We don’t know yet when that match will happen but we speculated that it could be at WrestleMania. That would mean that WWE would have to change their original plans for Lesnar. Goldberg was not in the plans for WrestleMania and his Survivor Series match was originally supposed to be a “one and done” deal. Click here for more on why the match ended so quickly last night.
James McKenna of Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Goldberg is scheduled to be in the Royal Rumble match at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX and the deal was signed just days before Survivor Series. It would make sense to load that show up as much as possible since they would need to draw somewhere around 60,000 fans to fill up the dome.
The idea is to make this upcoming Royal Rumble bigger than previous shows due to their “big 4” idea to do multiple shows in the same city and attract fans from around the country. WWE will be running an NXT show (believed to be a Takeover special) on the night before the Rumble and Monday Night Raw from San Antonio.
