Earlier this year, WWE underwent a series of talent releases, which included several notable names such as Giovanni Vinci, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Isla Dawn, Cedric Alexander, AOP (Rezar and Akam) with their manager Paul Ellering, and Blair Davenport.
Davenport initially garnered attention in NXT UK before transitioning to NXT, where she achieved a significant victory by winning the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge in 2023. Subsequently, she was drafted to the main roster in 2024 and made her SmackDown debut in June.
Despite this beginning, her time on the main roster proved to be short-lived and characterized by limited usage. She made a few television appearances, most notably participating in the tournament to crown the inaugural Women’s United States Champion, where she was eliminated in the first round. Her final match with WWE took place in November 2024.
During a recent livestream, Blair Davenport addressed her departure from WWE, offering her perspective on the situation.
“Because I was part of a big release. I think it was just budget cuts to make up their contracts,” Blair stated. “I don’t have any negative feelings or anything like that. It’s just the job and the business. That’s the way it goes, really. I’m excited for what’s coming in the future, I’m excited to kind of get back to my roots a little bit, and do my own thing again. I did love doing stuff in Japan and the UK. I’m excited to do the Indies in America because I’ve never actually done the indies here at all. So yes, I’m excited for the future.”
She further conveyed a positive outlook, adding, “Don’t be upset for me, it’s fine. It’s the job, it’s the way it goes. I’m happy for all my friends who are still there.”
