Blake Monroe, who recently joined the WWE NXT brand after making a name for herself in AEW and the Japanese wrestling scene, has publicly praised IYO SKY, declaring her to be the best wrestler in the world, regardless of gender.
IYO SKY’s Run in WWE
SKY, a former WWE Women’s World Champion, has had a successful run since winning the Money In The Bank briefcase in mid-2023. She has since participated in two WrestleMania title bouts and held multiple world titles. For Monroe, SKY’s status as a top performer is undeniable.
While speaking to TV Insider, she was asked about talent from Japan succeeding in WWE, which prompted a strong endorsement of SKY’s talent. “It’s amazing because I remember starting my wrestling journey and coming across Japanese wrestling, specifically women’s wrestling. I was amazed at the costumes and presentation,” she explained. “I thought, ‘what is this?’ You’ve seen Iyo and Giulia, and their presentation, which is the best I’ve ever seen.”
Monroe did not hold back her praise when discussing the former champion, placing SKY above all others in the industry today. “I already knew this world, so seeing the rest of the world find out that Iyo Sky is the best wrestler in the world, not just women’s wrestling. I was like, ‘yeah, catch up,'” she stated.
Monroe’s Other Opportunities
Monroe is also looking forward to the opportunities wrestling these athletes can provide, stating, “I’m excited to wrestle them and see what they can bring out of me. I’m just going to learn so much.” She went on to reflect on the dynamic she brought to the scene in Japan. “I always had fun with everyone I wrestled in Japan. I think they had fun wrestling me too. I think for me in Japan I brought more character because I’m from England. I always had fun, and they had fun wrestling with me because we played with all those elements. I love it. That’s why I love WWE because it has this variety.”
IYO SKY lost to Stephanie Vaquer while competing for the vacant Women’s World Championship at WWE Wrestlepalooza in Indianapolis, Indian. Since then SKY has continued to be a top player on the WWE main roster, teaming with Rhea Ripley in tag team competition, including at the recent WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event.
