Rusev’s last storyline featured his real-life wife, Lana, leaving him for Lashley. It was a long-standing feud last year and in early 2020.
Many fans felt that the story didn’t have a decisive finish to it and Lashley would agree with that opinion.
“I don’t think it had a proper conclusion,” he said. “I think there was so much we could do. We had a full head of steam, people wanted Rusev to rip my arms off and beat me with them.”
“I really don’t know what happened to tell you the truth,” Lashley said. “I think we were at the point where the revenge needed to happen and it didn’t. I don’t know where we could have went or where we were going to go with it.”
Lashley added that he wishes he could’ve had the match that he wanted with Rusev because he’s seen Rusev in some great matches and thinks he could’ve had one of those with the former WWE star.
Lashley will challenge WWE Champion Drew McIntyre for the title at the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view event.
