Bobby Roode recently spoke with SI.com to promote NXT Takeover: Toronto this Saturday night on the WWE Network. During the interview, Roode was asked about his upcoming match with Tye Dillinger at the event. “This is the biggest match of Tye’s career, but he has to remember who he’s in the ring with,” said Roode. Roode added that he is almost a twenty-year veteran and that he has been in the ring with a lot of the top stars that pro wrestling has ever had to offer. He said that he is going to treat TakeOver: Toronto like it’s another night at the office despite it being in his hometown. “I’m going to prove why I am one of the best in the world,” Roode said.
Roode followed up by saying that Dillinger’s character makes him unique and that it has always been a pleasure to be in the ring with a guy who has a good character and can get that reaction from the crowd. Roode said that NXT Takeover: Toronto is going to be an opportunity for two local talents that grew up within hours of the Air Canada Centre. “Tye has been around for a long time, but we’ve never crossed paths to this point. He’s looking forward to Takeover, and I know I am, too. Tye is going to have his hands full,” Roode said.
Roode has risen quickly through the ranks in NXT, and he gives a lot of credit to Triple H for his guidance. Roode said that Triple H is very hands-on and approachable and stated that his Glorious theme song is because of him. “Before I even signed my contract, we discussed what I wanted to do and what he felt like I could do. It’s been a real joy working for him,” Roode said. Roode said when he first got to WWE he had nerves, but at the same time, he was confident. Roode wanted an opportunity, and Triple H gave it to him.
