NXT Champion Bobby Roode recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of SI.com to promote NXT Takeover: Orlando. He will be defending the NXT Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event of the show. When asked about NXT Takeover: Orlando, he said that the guys and girls at NXT have worked really hard and that their drive is to get onto a Takeover special. He brought up that Aleister Black is making his debut at the show and that he’s worked hard to get to this spot. He said that WrestleMania is the show of the year and every year it gets bigger and better. He said that there are a lot of matches at WrestleMania and for fans to spend their money on it, they deserve a show like that.
Roode said that Nakamura and he set the bar pretty high in San Antonio in January and that there is a lot on the line in Orlando. He said that the fate of NXT is on the line this Saturday. He said that Nakamura had done a lot of great things when he was the champion, but he is going to make a lot of changes as he continues to be the champion. He brought up that he believes the Asuka – Ember Moon match has the chance to steal the show as well as the Triple Threat NXT Tag Team Championship match. He added that this has every right to be the best TakeOver of all time.
Roode also stated that whoever is the world champion next year going into WrestleMania 34, he would like to headline against them at the event.
