Booker T Calls Theory About His WWE NXT Appreciation Night ‘The Dumbest Thing I Ever Heard’

Booker T has fired back at the suggestion that his NXT Appreciation Night was orchestrated as a response to the Wrestling Observer awards, calling the theory the dumbest thing he has ever heard.

Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T was played a clip from Bryan Alvarez in which Alvarez suggested that because NXT had visited Houston many times without doing something similar, the night appeared to be a calculated reply to the Wrestling Observer’s negative assessments of NXT and Booker T’s commentary work. Booker T was not having it.

“That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. Someone thinking about the Wrestling Observer and Booker T may be somehow connected. That is ridiculous.”

Booker T also addressed the contradictory nature of the narrative being pushed, pointing out that it did not hold up logically. “You cannot have it both ways,” Booker T said. “One day, Triple H wants to bury me in the ground. Okay. Now, the next day, he wants to put me over like I am the best thing in the world. Those two just do not go together.”

The Wrestling Observer awarded Booker T the Worst Announcer of the Year in 2025, something Booker T also addressed previously on his podcast. Booker T’s NXT Appreciation Night featured tributes from Shawn Michaels, Roxanne Perez, Trick Williams, Joe Hendry, and numerous others.
