WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T has shared his thoughts on the recent departure of Jazmyn Nyx from WWE, stating that he understands and respects her decision to leave. Nyx was written off television last week in an angle that saw her kicked out of the Fatal Influence faction, and she later confirmed on social media that she was leaving the company because the financial terms of her contract renewal were not what she was looking for.
On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T offered his perspective, citing Nyx’s injury history and the financial realities of developmental contracts as key factors in her decision. “My thing is, you’ve gotta respect, you’ve gotta understand where she’s coming from. She was probably making some money over there doing the soccer thing, and probably was making some money with the modeling deal that she was also doing. I respect that,” Booker T said.
He then spoke about the significant challenges Nyx faced during her time in NXT, particularly her injuries. “My thing is, also, you’ve gotta look at yourself. How much time had Jazmyn been on television? If I’m not mistaken, I think she said she had four knee surgeries, and I think she said she had a broken nose. That’s a lot of time not in the gym trying to figure this thing out… I’m gonna tell you right now, injury is your worst enemy in this business. Time off is your worst enemy in this business. It really, truly is. For someone like Jazmyn who hadn’t even gotten a real run, to have had four knee surgeries in NXT‘s program… four knee surgeries is gonna set just about anybody back. And that’s gonna screw your money up a little bit.”
Booker T, who has been in the wrestling business for over three decades, compared the situation to other professional sports, where injuries often have a direct impact on a player’s contract value. “I don’t care if it’s football, basketball, baseball, or football. You get injured, see if they’re gonna sign you next year to that same contract. You’d better wish you’re Tom Brady or somebody like that, otherwise they’re gonna be looking to cut you, or cut that money somehow,” he explained.
“So I understand Jazmyn Nyx. I don’t know how much money she was making, but I know those contracts start at a base rate. I do know that. $75,000 these days is not a lot of money to a lot of people.”
Jazmyn Nyx, a former professional soccer player, signed with WWE in 2022. She made her television debut in 2024 as a member of Chase University before leaving the group to join Fatal Influence. Her run as an enforcer for NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne was the most prominent role of her WWE career.
