WWE Hall of Famer and current NXT commentator Booker T shared his strong support for recent main roster call-up Stephanie Vaquer, praising her in-ring ability and using her as an example while pushing back against “bitter” veterans who criticize the current generation of wrestlers. The comments came during last week’s episode of his “Hall of Fame” podcast.
The discussion began with Booker T taking aim at what he perceives as overly negative commentary from some wrestlers of his era. He used a hypothetical criticism of Vaquer to make his point. “When I hear somebody just like, say, for instance. ‘I don’t really see anything in Stephanie Vaquer,’ that’s a bitter son of a gun. That’s a really bitter person to say something like that,” Booker T stated. “When you hear somebody say something like that. You go, wow, this person really is off beat.”
Contrasting this hypothetical critique, Booker T offered his own enthusiastic assessment of Vaquer’s talent. “I agree with you 100% because I look at before the Devil’s Kiss [her finishing move] and I watched her work. I go, man, this girl could work. She’s awesome,” he said.
His praise extended to her performances during the recent, grueling Money in the Bank and Worlds Collide weekend, where Vaquer competed multiple times. “She was sensational,” Booker T remarked. “She did. Went out there and did the damn thing. Give it up for Stephanie Vaquer.”
Stephanie Vaquer has had a breakout year in WWE. After a successful reign as NXT Women’s Champion, she was recently called up to the main roster and was immediately placed into the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Her unique in-ring style has quickly captured the attention of the WWE Universe.
Booker T’s comments were part of a broader message about letting the current generation define their own era. “This generation that’s doing it today is theirs. It’s their generation. They’re going to leave it the way, you know, they want to leave it, not the way we left our generation,” he stated. His high praise for Vaquer serves as a strong endorsement for one of the women’s division’s newest and most prominent stars.
