Booker T is high on Oba Femi, calling the new King of the Ring a generational talent capable of thriving in any role.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker addressed the idea that Femi, who has been on the main roster for roughly six months, might be getting too big a push too soon. While he acknowledged he would normally share that concern, his time watching Femi develop in NXT changed his mind.
“I got a chance to watch the growth of Oba Femi, and I got a chance to see Oba Femi in situations where the average person would have failed at least once, maybe twice,” Booker said. “But every time they put Oba in the situation, he went out there and he passed that test every single time. I’m talking about he just crushed it.”
That track record is why Booker believes Femi is the rare talent who can handle a top spot immediately. “This guy’s a generational talent. He could work across every era,” he said. “I feel like if anybody could be put in this situation right now and actually literally knock it out of the park, it’s Oba Femi. I really believe that. I think this guy could carry it just because of his mentality.”
Booker also made it clear that Femi can succeed as either a hero or a villain, and admitted he’d love to see him explore his darker side. “I think both sides work for Oba. If he’s a heel, it works. If he’s a babyface, it works,” he said. “I would love to see Oba as a heel.”
Even so, Booker doesn’t believe fans would reject Femi if he were to dethrone a popular champion like Sami Zayn. “I always say it’s not winning, it’s the way you win. It’s not losing, it’s the way you lose,” he said. “I think everybody could win in this situation.”
