Booker T believes Royce Keys made the absolute right decision by jumping ship to WWE. The powerhouse formerly known as Powerhouse Hobbs in AEW made his debut in the Royal Rumble match, entering with a new name and a spotlight moment that caught the attention of the Hall of Famer.
Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T was effusive in his praise for Keys. He sees the move as a fresh start and a massive opportunity for the heavyweight to reach his full potential.
“Oh man, Will Hobbs, aka Royce Keys. He made the right choice, making that walk in the Rumble right there is just the beginning for Royce. He’s getting ready to do some big things in the WWE. I can’t wait.”

What impressed Booker T the most was the immediate placement of Keys on the main roster. Bypassing NXT and debuting directly in one of the biggest matches of the year signals a high level of confidence from WWE management.
“For them being WWE to trust Roy’s keys his first night to come out at the rumble and not NXT tells me a whole lot for them. To flash his name, Will Hobbs, you know, that told me a whole lot about what they think about where they’re getting ready to take, you know, Royce Keys. I can’t wait to see exactly, you know, what this thing ends up.”
Keys had a strong showing in the match, even eliminating former World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest. This booking decision further solidifies Booker T’s belief that WWE sees Keys as a major player for the future.
“I love that he was involved in the rumble,” co-host Brad Gilmore added. “And then I also Brock Lesnar had a nice little run in the rumble.”
