During the “Hall Of Fame” podcast, Booker T commented on the recent names announced for the 2021 WWE Hall Of Fame and he mentioned someone who has seemingly been forgotten by WWE.
Booker said that he believes that legendary referee Nick Patrick should be inducted. Patrick is the son of “The Assassin” Jody Hamilton and he was a referee in Georgia Championship Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, and World Championship Wrestling from the early 80s until 2001 when WCW closed down.
He also worked for several years in WWE from 2001 until his release in 2008 after he was sidelined with a chronic back injury. Patrick, along with Earl Hebner, is one of the most well-known referees in the history of pro wrestling.
Booker T said the following about Nick Patrick:
“We were talking about referees. I think Nick Patrick should be in the Hall of Fame. I think Nick Patrick, if anybody, he was always my go to guy. I always needed Nick to referee my matches if I could get him. He was always a guy I knew I could trust and make everything right even when I might have been slipping a little bit. He could help me some. At least 80% of my matches in WCW, Nick Patrick was the guy with the call every time.”
Booker said the following about Eric Bischoff being inducted this year:
“I can’t take away anything Bischoff did. I tell you, I put Bischoff over more than anybody. In a chat, they may think I’m a hater towards Bischoff, but Bischoff did me right throughout my whole career. Bischoff made sure that I was protected. I was the guy that no matter who came in, they were not going to bury Booker T. Eric Bischoff did that for me. I know for a long time, it was probably a question mark in a lot of people’s heads, ‘Should Booker T be The World Champion?’ He was there and he played a role as far as that went as well and he was always happy for me when I became Heavyweight Champion. So, I have nothing but love for Eric Bischoff…At the end of the day, Eric Bischoff should be in The Hall of Fame.”
