WWE Hall of Famer and co-host of the Hall of Fame podcast Booker T recently discussed new SmackDown Tag Team Champion John Morrison on the podcast. A fan had called in to ask if Booker would rather see Miz & Morrison defend their new tag team titles at WrestleMania against The New Day or the returning Usos.
Booker T confirmed that he would rather see New Day get the nod in the match. After saying that he liked how entertaining both teams are, Booker stated that John Morrison is a big star; and has been since ‘day one’ in WWE.
“John Morrison is not a sideline player”
“[they] Made him the tag team champion, put him right back in the mix” Booker T began. and that’s what you need to do with someone like Morrison. Because, honestly, John Morrison, he’s not a sideline player. He’s not a guy you want to bring in off the bench. He’s the guy you want to keep in rotation, keep him in the game, you know. Keep him warm, keep him hot.”
Booker would then go on to say how he always saw star potential in John Morrison. “This guy, you look at him, you know from from day one. He’s always had that, that one thing man he always had stop star potential. He always had that, what would that ‘je ne sais quoi.’ The ‘IT’ factor you know what I mean? But yeah, man. He always had ‘it.'”
John Morrison recently returned to WWE on January 3rd and rejoined fellow SmackDown Superstar The Miz. This was the first time that the duo had reformed since 2009, following Morrison’s WWE departure in 2011. Since that time Morrison has performed for the likes of Lucha Underground, AAA, IMPACT, Dragon Gate USA and 5 Star Wrestling. Whether WWE chooses to transition Morrison into a singles based role beyond this remains to be seen.
