WWE Hall of Famer and co-host of the Hall of Fame podcast on ESPN Booker T recently discussed Randy Orton’s upcoming bout against Edge at WrestleMania 36. During the podcast, Booker would praise Orton for ‘hitting his prime’ as a performer. Booker would claim that we’re seeing the ‘best’ Orton, and that he will not get better or worse than he is right now.
“That’s the thing. Randy’s in his peak right now” Booker T began. “Now he’s just the prime Randy Orton. This is perhaps the best you’re going to see Randy. I don’t think he’s going to get any better than this, he’s not going to get any worse than this. But I don’t think he’s going to get any better than this.”
Booker would elaborate further, “because Randy is at a point now where he’s comfortable with walking out that curtain, like I’ve never seen him walk out that curtain before. but then again, just like I said, he’s 40 now. The thing is he’s questioning himself right now wondering, you know, ‘I don’t have that much time left? I wish I had more time.’ That might be where Randy is right now. And if that’s the case, you know, like most of us, we finally get to that point. And then we finally figure it out. By then it is almost time to hang it up! But that’s the name of the game.”
Booker would finish by saying “I don’t think anyone’s doing better work than Randy Orton is doing right now. Right now he’s a money making machine, us the fans want to see more of Randy Orton and I wish we would have seen this Randy a long time ago. But the thing is, it just don’t happen that way. It took this long for Randy to finally be himself.”
