While doing an interview with Steve O for his podcast, Rousey discussed her time in WWE and talked about how having “fake fights” was fun. While she bashed the fans, she was complimentary towards the company and those who she worked with.
Since then, various WWE stars have come out and taken jabs at her because she called pro wrestling fake despite the well-known risks that come along with the business.
Booker T gave his take during the most recent episode of his podcast while speaking with Christian.
“What irks me about the comments, more than anything, is she was great at what she did.”
Booker talked about how she put women on the map for the UFC and mixed martial arts in general. He put her over for being at the forefront of that and it’s a great thing.
“The exit, two dramatic losses, (Amanda Nunes and Holly Holm) it is what it is. Then to be accepted into the wrestling world and have to go out there and perform with those ladies in the locker room. It’s a slap in the face to each and every one of those ladies that went out there and had to work with her.”
Booker T continued by stating, “To slap all those ladies in the face that made her look so good after receiving that check from this ‘fake’ business, a check that being put in a position where she was the women’s champion, she was in the main event at WrestleMania, that speaks volumes. There are so many ladies in that locker room that work really hard, work their a**es off to actually get to that spot, like a Nia Jax.
That never had got that kind of praise since she’s been there and then someone walks from outside inside to this world and get it. It really is a slap in the face. I just think Ronda needs to apologize first and foremost.”
Booker T would bring up how MMA fighters have made the transition to pro wrestling and they don’t bring up how wrestling is fake. He pointed out how Mark Henry recently compared Rousey to Kurt Angle. Booker T stated that Angle is a wounded warrior walking for not just the injuries he dealt with as an amateur wrestler but for the abuse his body took as a pro wrestler.
