On the latest episode of the “Hall Of Fame” podcast, Booker T said he believes that Corey Graves should not make a return to the ring even though he got medically cleared to come back:
“Nobody knows who the hell Corey Graves was before he retired. I know he’s going to be pissed off at that a little bit. The thing is, he’s done so good at being a commentator. What the hell is he thinking getting back in that ring and perhaps something happens or something pops? I think Corey Graves, of course having that feeling, having that adrenaline rush sitting at the table watching it go down, is almost like watching a party go by and you’re participating in it. I understand that.”
Booker continues, “You know what, if you can work them both (wrestling and announcing), I would be all in with that, but I wouldn’t give up the chair. I just wouldn’t. I just think Corey is doing such a hell of a job being a commentator. Those types of guys, they come few and far between, guys like him that can command that position. You’re doing that on a weekly basis, and you have to be able to go out there and do it a little bit differently every time. Corey has literally mastered that. Me personally, if I was in a higher position, I would not want to lose Corey Graves in that position because it would be so hard to replace.”
Booker was asked what he thinks about Jade Cargill being the TBS Women’s Champion and his opinion of Tony Khan saying Jade Cargill can be compared to Bill Goldberg’s first year:
“I don’t give a damn if Jade Cargill couldn’t do a wrist lock or headlock takeover. I wouldn’t care. I would put the title on her. She’s a specimen. She’s something that we have never seen before. When you put her on the marquee, whether you think she can wrestle or jump off the top rope, you want to buy a ticket just to see her. Some people don’t understand this business of drawing money. When I see Jade Cargill, I see, man we can draw some money here. Then if we can teach her the ins and outs to do the little things about this business, man, we can really do something. So when you look at someone like Cargill and you know exactly what she brings to the table just from that box, she checks all of them off. Then she gets in the ring and performs. Now we got something. For her to be compared to Goldberg, I wouldn’t say it’s 100% spot on or anything like that, but I wouldn’t say it’s so far-fetched that it’s something we shouldn’t even be talking about. Both were green. Both were young in the business. Both look so impressive, you can’t do anything other than let them go out there and beat the hell out of somebody.”
