Wrestling historian and author Brian R. Solomon announced on his latest “Shut Up and Wrestle” podcast that an audiobook version of his upcoming biography on WWE Hall of Famer Gorilla Monsoon is officially in the works. The book, titled Irresistible Force: The Life and Times of Gorilla Monsoon, details the life and career of the legendary wrestler, announcer, and backstage figure.
Solomon shared the news directly with listeners: “I’ve got something very special to talk about, with regards to my upcoming book, Irresistible Force: The Life and Times of Gorilla Monsoon. I’m excited to say, to answer the question that I’ve gotten from a whole bunch of people, there will indeed be an audio book. As I record this earlier today, I got the official word. I got the official offer. It is going to happen, an audio book version of Irresistible Force.”
While the audiobook is confirmed, Solomon noted some details are still pending. “I’m not sure yet. On a release date, the print book comes out in September. I’ll let you know,” he stated. He also expressed uncertainty about whether he would be narrating the audiobook himself, as he did for his previous biography on The Sheik, Blood and Fire. “I’m also not sure if I’m going to have the opportunity to record this audio book myself… I hope to do that, but it doesn’t always work out that way in the world of audio books, so we’ll see how it shakes out.”
The confirmation addresses a frequent question from fans eagerly anticipating the biography of Monsoon, a foundational figure in WWE history whose career spanned decades both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Solomon promised to provide further updates on the audiobook’s release date and narrator as they become available.
