The stolen WWE Hall of Fame ring belonging to the late “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith has been recovered at a pawn shop in Lloydminster. The piece of professional wrestling memorabilia was taken during a trailer break-in earlier this week while the Canadian Wrestling’s Elite promotion was on tour.
Diana Hart, the widow of Davey Boy Smith, announced the discovery on Facebook.
“Great news! The initial theft occurred during the early hours of Wednesday, February 25, 2026. A trailer belonging to the Canadian Wrestling’s Elite promotion was parked outside the Central Suite Hotel near 50 Avenue and 49 Street in Lloydminster. Thieves broke into the trailer between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. while the performers were asleep in the hotel. The tour had performed in the community on Tuesday night as part of its 17th anniversary tour and was preparing for a scheduled stop in Prince Albert.
According to Canadian Wrestling’s Elite general manager Danny Warren, the organization discovered the break-in around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Warren stated that the trailer had been “torn apart by thieves”. Among the stolen property was a travel bag belonging to Davey Boy Smith Jr., who is currently competing on the tour. The bag contained his personal wrestling gear and several items of historic memorabilia connected to his late father.
“There was Davey Boy Smith Junior’s travel bag, which included his wrestling gear, including very personal items, including his father’s wrestling vest, his Hall of Fame ring, a gold chain, some jewellery, and just a lot of sentimental, personal wrestling items,” Warren said. “Some of these things can’t be replaced”.
Warren also issued a plea to the public following the theft: “If someone has any information or have any access to the materials that were stolen, it would really mean a lot if it was returned”.
The wrestling community rallied to support the family. WWE superstar Natalya, the niece of Davey Boy Smith and cousin to Davey Boy Smith Jr., offered a financial reward for the ring’s return.
“If anyone has any information on this, please DM me. I’ll personally offer a 5,000usd reward if the items are returned. No questions asked,” Natalya wrote on social media.
Georgia Smith, the daughter of Davey Boy Smith, also appealed for information, adding: “This makes me so upset”.
The Lloydminster Royal Canadian Mounted Police launched an investigation into the targeted theft. Prior to the ring being located at the pawn shop, authorities reported that most of the stolen items, including the wrestling gear, a Hart Foundation leather vest, and a CWE Tag Team Championship belt, were recovered in a nearby alleyway. However, the jewelry and the WWE Hall of Fame ring remained missing. The RCMP Forensic Identification Section collected blood samples and physical impressions left at the scene for analysis. Alberta RCMP also asked local businesses and residents to review CCTV or dash camera footage from a one-block radius between 47 and 50 Streets as well as 50 and 51 Avenues.
“British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith passed away in 2002. He was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. The Hall of Fame ring is presented to inductees or their families as a physical representation of the honor. During his career, Smith was a prominent star in WWE throughout the 1980s and 1990s, capturing the Intercontinental Championship, the European Championship, and multiple Tag Team Championships. He famously main evented the SummerSlam 1992 pay-per-view against Bret Hart at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
