Broadcast team and premiere date set for WWE Mae Young Classic

The Mae Young Classic, featuring 32 women from around the world, will begin taping this week. WWE announced that the shows will start airing on Wednesday, September 5th, immediately following the weekly NXT TV show.

The show will air every Wednesday night until only two wrestlers remain. As previously noted, the finals will take place on October 28 at the WWE Evolution pay-per-view.

As we noted last night, Mauro Ranallo and Beth Phoenix were seen filming the bracketology special in Orlando. WWE has confirmed that Renee Young will be joining them in the booth. The company is touting that this is the first time that two women will be in the announce booth. Phoenix made her debut on commentary earlier this year as part of the Mixed Match Challenge show that aired on Facebook Watch. WWE also announced that Cathy Kelley and Shadia Bseiso will be conducting backstage interviews and Kayla Braxton will serve as the ring announcer.

The Bracketology special will air on Wednesday, August 29 at 9/8 central. Click here for the list of wrestlers set for this year’s tournament.
