The much-anticipated fight between Brock Lesnar and Daniel Cormier may never happen.
At Friday’s UFC seasonal press conference, Dana White was asked about the fight and indicated that it might not happen.
“Seriously, that fight isn’t even in the works. That fight may not even happen,” White said.
White added that he hasn’t talked with Lesnar about that fight and said Stipe Miocic could be Cormier’s next, and possibly last opponent. Cormier has indicated that this would be his last year as he’s wanted to retire at the age of 40.
Lesnar lost the WWE Universal Championship to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35 and, aside from WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia in June, Lesnar is not currently scheduled for any events.
White did not indicate when Cormier would return to the Octagon but he did say that Cormier has begun light training.
There have been many examples in the past where fights were made after White said talks broke down so I would never rule out a deal being worked out at some point for Lesnar vs. Cormier.
