Former WWE/UFC Champion Brock Lesnar is no longer under contract. PWInsider first reported today that Lesnar is a free agent and the news was just confirmed to us by a WWE source.
We were told a couple of weeks ago that Vince McMahon wanted to bring Lesnar back since they are now running shows in the ThunderDome but a new deal could not be reached so Lesnar is free to negotiate with other wrestling companies if he is interested in continuing his wrestling career.
PWInsider reports that Lesnar and WWE have hit an impasse during negotiations. This would explain why Lesnar’s merchandise was removed today from WWEShop.com.
This has happened before so it would not be a shock to anyone if Lesnar ends up signing a new WWE contract at some point. There’s always a chance that AEW will show interest but quite frankly, he would likely exceed their spending budget but anything is possible in pro wrestling. Vince McMahon may have to break his own rule if Lesnar is asking for more money because the edict in WWE is that no raises are to being given out during the pandemic.
Lesnar’s last appearance was at WrestleMania 38 where he lost the Universal Championship to Drew McIntyre. Meanwhile, Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman returned to WWE TV on Friday at SmackDown as the new manager/advocate for Roman Reigns.
UPDATE: Lesnar’s talent deal expired at WrestleMania. His merchandise deal with WWE expired a few days ago.
