Brock Lesnar References On WWE Raw Fuel Speculation About His Return

WWE might be testing the waters to see if one of their biggest names will be welcomed back by the fans.

Last night on WWE Monday Night Raw, there were two references to Brock Lesnar. Up until last night, the company has not mentioned his name on television for many months due to Lesnar being referenced in the Janel Grant lawsuit that was filed earlier this year.

On Raw in a backstage segment, Seth Rollins was advised by Adam Pearce not to take a match with Bronson Reed. Rollins reminded Pearce that he has slayed beasts (a Lesnar reference) before.

Later in the show during the Cody Rhodes in-ring segment with Gunther, Rhodes responded to being called a secondary champion. Rhodes said, “Let us not forget I defeated the most dominating champion in company history. And Gunther, I have already slain a frightening beast.” Obviously, the beast was the second Lesnar reference on the show.

It’s been over a year since we’ve seen Lesnar on WWE television. There were plans for him to return at the Royal Rumble to set up a match with Dominik Mysterio at the Elimination Chamber and a match with Gunther at WrestleMania but those plans were scrapped.

The Beast references are very likely scripted and if they weren’t, WWE had time to remove them since it was a taped show. So, perhaps, we could see Lesnar back on WWE TV in the near future.
