As noted earlier, it’s looking very likely that the negotiations between WWE and Bill Goldberg went well and Jim Ross has heard from sources that Goldberg would be facing Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in Toronto.
Dave Meltzer noted that there were rumors from inside WWE about the deal being completed over the weekend and two other sources say that the deal was either finalized or in heavy negotiations. Goldberg will be on tonight’s “Off The Top Rope” segment on SportsCenter to talk about WWE 2K17. Meltzer noted that an announcement could be imminent. If that is the case then it would make the most sense to make the announcement on ESPN for maximum exposure and publicity.
Goldberg is 49 years old and this would be the first time he’s wrestled since WrestleMania XX in 2004. The match was a disappointment mainly because both men were on their way out of the company and the crowd knew that it was their swan song.
Goldberg joins the list of wrestlers that have been featured in a WWE video game and ended up doing business with WWE to appear on television. Brock Lesnar (after his first UFC run), Sting and Ultimate Warrior all ended up working with WWE after signing deals to appear in their video game.
In response to the rumors going around, Goldberg posted the following tweet:
Reading the Internet…. you never know who to believe do you? #WhosNext
