Bron Breakker is looking to start 2026 with a history-making victory, as the 28-year-old superstar prepares to challenge CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The bout is set for the first WWE Raw of 2026, which also serves as the one-year anniversary of the show’s debut on Netflix. Breakker earned this title opportunity by pinning Punk inside WarGames at Survivor Series.
In an exclusive interview with The Takedown on SI, Breakker did not mince words (in character) regarding his position in the company or his feelings about the current landscape of WWE champions. He highlighted the lack of youth at the top of the card, noting that if he wins, he will be the first world champion under the age of 30 in nearly a decade.
“It’s embarrassing,” Breakker said. “I’m a young guy and we got 80 year-olds… It makes me want to take them all out. Make sure they never come back here, because they’ve already had 20 years to get their point across and they still haven’t gotten it across. I’ll beat the hell out of all of them.”
Breakker’s rise to the main event scene was accelerated last year when he was vaulted to the top of “The Vision” faction following a shoulder injury to Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel. Rollins was forced to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship, a title that Punk subsequently won. Rather than showing sympathy for his former ally, Breakker turned on Rollins.
“I was going to be in this position anyway. I’m not here because of someone else’s shortcomings. It was inevitable that I was going to be at this point,” Breakker stated. “It did not matter at whose expense it had to be at. So, sucks to suck Seth, it really does.”
The second-generation star noted that his success is a result of his genetics and unmatched work ethic. He dismissed any notion that his spot was handed to him.
“Who the hell else is it going to be other than me?” Breakker asked. “I’m on everything. I’m the fastest and the strongest. I have the best looking physique that we’ve got. Name somebody else doing that like me and put them in front of me. I’ll take them out too, just to remind everybody that I’m the guy.”
