WWE Superstar Bronson Reed joined “Busted Open Radio” with Dave LaGreca and Nic Nemeth this week to discuss his career trajectory, his role in The Vision, and his upcoming tag team match at today’s Wrestlepalooza premium live event. Reed provided details on his recovery from a significant injury and a reassuring phone call he received from WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H.
On His Career Path and Current Position
Reed reflected on his journey in professional wrestling, stating that he has had to earn every opportunity he has received. He sees his current role as a continuation of that process.
“I feel like in my career, I’ve never really been hot shotted into a position, so I’ve always worked my way up the ladder,” Reed said. “Now I’m finally in the position that I’ve wanted to be in for the last few years… I’m very happy to be in the position I’m in. And I feel like I’m just really just starting. There’s still a lot to come.” He also referenced a key piece of advice from Karl Anderson that stuck with him. “He just said, ‘don’t quit.’ And then sort of walked off… that always actually stuck in my head, that that’s the greatest advice, I think, in wrestling, is just don’t quit, because if you do, you never know where you’re going to end up.”
Recovering From His “Most Serious Injury”
Earlier this year, Reed was sidelined with a major injury, which he confirmed was the most serious of his career. He detailed the physical and mental challenges of the recovery process.
“This one was the first one that sidelined me,” he explained. “I couldn’t for the first two months, I wasn’t even allowed to put any weight on my foot, so I was sitting on a couch… and when that does happen, you do question yourself. You’re wondering, like, what am I going to come back to? Or, as you said, am I going to be able to do the same things? And I just made sure to hit it really hard with rehab.” Reed was determined to return in better shape than when he left. “I made sure that when I come back I am something a little bit more special than what it was before.”
A Reassuring Call from Triple H
While recovering, Reed received a phone call from Triple H that helped ease his concerns about his future with the company.
“I was lucky enough, a few weeks into after my surgery, Hunter rang me and had a conversation with him,” Reed recounted. “And I remember him saying, like, ‘Look, just don’t worry about your spot. You know, that’s what everyone is worried about.’ He said, ‘When you’re good and you’re healthy, you come back, you’ll be in a good spot.’ So I just made sure that I kept him as a man of his word. And I didn’t even think about what I was going to come back to.” He also revealed that he didn’t learn of the plans for him to join The Vision until just days before his televised return.
His Role in The Vision
Reed addressed his position within The Vision alongside World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker. He pushed back against early online comparisons of himself and Breakker to past supporting players.
“At first I think there was a lot of people online saying that we were basically J&J Security… you can’t treat me and Bron in that same respect,” Reed stated. “We’re both two heavy hitters. We’re both two guys that can kill everyone on the roster. It’s almost like Seth having two heavies, but I feel like the group really is individuals… You’re starting to see everyone sort of branch off and do their own thing, which only makes The Vision even stronger, in my opinion.”
On the New ESPN Partnership
Reed concluded by expressing his excitement for Wrestlepalooza being the first WWE premium live event to air on the ESPN app, recognizing the significance of the partnership.
“It’s very exciting times. You know, when you think of sports in general, you think of ESPN, so it feels so big to me,” he said. “Growing up, I was a big basketball fan and NBA on ESPN… and now you’re going to get to see Bronson Reed on ESPN… I feel like WWE is sort of just kicking goals constantly.”
