Following his return to WWE in 2019, rumors circulated that Bruce Prichard had tension with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon due to his previous departure from the company in 2008. On the latest episode of Something To Wrestle, Prichard firmly shut down those rumors, clarifying the reality of his relationship with the couple.
No Bad Blood With Triple H
Prichard addressed speculation that he and Triple H were at odds, noting that they had never worked together in a creative capacity during his first run, as Triple H was strictly a talent at the time. Prichard praised Triple H’s qualifications, regardless of his marriage into the McMahon family.
“If he had married Betty down the street, [he would] still be in the same position he is in today because he still has those qualifications,” Prichard stated. “I never had that opportunity, you know, ever to work with Paul in that regard. So any, any perceived hard feelings, I don’t know where they would have ever come from, because there weren’t any.”
Gratitude Toward Stephanie McMahon
Prichard also spoke warmly about Stephanie McMahon, thanking her for the way she treated him upon his return. He noted that despite any past emotions, he had moved on and was grateful for the time away, which allowed him to be with his family.
“With Steph was ‘Thank you.’ That’s from the heart, because I didn’t know what I was going to get at the time, and what I got was time with my kids that never in a million year, you can’t replace it,” Prichard said. “I had seen both, you know, prior to coming back. And both were first class and great to me in those instances.”
Dispelling The Rumors
Prichard attributed the stories of conflict to people who do not understand the internal dynamics of the business. “People want to create animosity. Want to create all these things that simply aren’t there because they’ve never been in that kind of a role,” he said.
Since Vince McMahon’s resignation, Triple H has taken over as WWE’s Chief Content Officer. Under his leadership, the company has seen a surge in popularity.
