Executive Director of SmackDown Live Bruce Prichard recently took part in a Q&A episode of the Something To Wrestle With podcast alongside co-host Conrad Thompson. During the show Prichard would answer a litany of questions from fans regarding his time in WWE. One of the questions posed to the former ‘Brother Love’ revolved around The Undertaker’s WrestleMania undefeated streak.
Bruce Prichard on ‘Taker vs The Beast Incarnate
‘Taker would famously lose his perfect streak at the ‘show of shows’ when he faced Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30. It was a controversial decision at the time to have Lesnar destroy The Phenom and take away such a huge marketing tool for the company, however Prichard believes that in the end the company were right to give Lesnar such a monumental win.
“But with hindsight being 20 20 do I think it was the right call? Yes” – Bruce Prichard
“I actually had this conversation the other day, and let me answer it this way” Bruce Prichard began. “What I have done it? No. But with hindsight being 20 20 do I think it was the right call? Yes.”
Prichard would then elaborate further, saying that as a business decision it was the right way to go with Lesnar’s character. “Really for business…for business purposes, for the story? For everything else? Yeah, man. I agree with it.”
The SmackDown Executive Director would finish by reiterating that he would not have made the same call on the night. “I don’t necessarily…had I been the one making the call that night in New Orleans? I don’t know that I would have made THAT call.”
