Bully Ray has elaborated on his belief that WWE won’t create another star as big as John Cena.
The former WWE Champion is the biggest star that WWE has had since Steve Austin and The Rock back in the Attitude Era. Despite their best efforts with Roman Reigns, WWE hasn’t got him to that same position in the mainstream as the names listed above.
While talking on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Ray talked about the shift of WWE’s way to create news stars with how they did it with Cena. Ray would bring up stars such as Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Roddy Piper, Ted DiBiase in the 80s while Austin, Rock, The Undertaker, Kane, Triple H, DX in the Attitude Ara and how there is diversity there with different stars.
The problem with Reigns is that he can’t do whatever he wants like stars in the past. The reason for that is due to WWE not wanting any star to be bigger than the brand.
“They’ll always have a loyalty to WWE because WWE allowed them to become those larger than life personas.” Ray would later add, “I don’t think WWE wants any one particular star to become bigger than the company ever again.”
