Cain Velasquez to make pro wrestling return later this year

Cain Velasquez is looking to get back into the pro wrestling business.

In 2019 after working a few matches for AAA, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion signed with WWE and only competed in two matches.

The first being when he challenged WWE Champion Brock Lesnar for the title at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and then a tag team match at a house show.

Velasquez was let go by WWE last year due to budget cuts related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During an appearance on In This Corner with Cyrus Fees (quotes can be found around the 36-minute mark),  he talked about his WWE run where he noted that he feels like he needs to develop more as he didn’t have much experience as a wrestler then the pandemic hit.

This is when he noted that he’ll be returning to AAA in December, but didn’t mention a date.

“Actually, I’m doing a show in December for AAA. So for me, I love AAA and I’m going to keep doing that right now. I love WWE as well, but I have to first develop myself in order for me to go out there. I’m going to keep doing stuff and have fun with it.”
