Carlito Is A Free Agent After WWE Contract Expires: “Back In Business”

Carlito is once again a free agent. The former WWE United States and Intercontinental Champion announced today that his contract with WWE has expired. The company opted not to renew the deal. He is now free to sign with any promotion.

He announced the news on his Instagram account, posting a video with a caption confirming his status.

“Back in business!! #fullyavailable #nocontract #libre #ready #noworries”

This marks the end of his second run with the company, which began after a surprise, widely praised appearance at the Backlash event in Puerto Rico in 2023. He officially re-signed and was integrated into the Latino World Order (LWO) storyline on SmackDown. However, following the initial LWO implosion angle, Carlito’s television appearances became increasingly infrequent.

Carlito’s first WWE run began in 2004, where he memorably defeated John Cena for the United States Championship in his debut match. Known for spitting apple in the face of people who weren’t “cool,” he also won the Intercontinental Title on his Raw debut and later held tag team gold with his brother, Primo. He was released in 2010 before making his return over a decade later.
