Over the years, WWE has decided to drop the “diva” moniker from its female athletes. Instead, they are referred to as simply “Superstars” just like the men. This comes in the midst of the WWE’s Women’s Evolution which has taken the professional wrestling world by storm.
While all women can agree the WWE’s Women’s Evolution is a good thing, many disagree with completely eliminating and casting a dark cloud over the old “diva” term. One big defender of the term has been former SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Carmella.
In fact, Carmella recently took to Twitter and trashed an article suggesting “Divas” are damaging WWE’s Women’s Evolution. Here’s what she had to say:
“This is an embarrassing article. Every single woman from the past and current roster have made women’s wrestling what it is. EVERYONE is deserving. Enough of the negativity around the “diva” moniker.”
