Carmella: ‘My Personal Experience With Vince McMahon Was Nothing But Positive’

Former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella recently shared positive reflections on her personal experiences working with former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. Speaking to Zack Heydorn of Sports Illustrated, Carmella, who departed WWE in early 2025, emphasized that her interactions with McMahon were constructive.

Despite the significant controversies surrounding McMahon that led to his exit from WWE, Carmella focused on her professional relationship. “I loved working with Vince, I really did,” she stated. “All of that, everything, the noise that has happened, that aside, my personal experience with Vince was nothing but positive.”

She highlighted McMahon’s openness to her ideas and his availability to talent. “He was always so open to anything that I would have to suggest or if I had questions or concerns. I could always go to him, and he would always make time for the talent. He really would,” Carmella recalled. “I feel so grateful for the time to learn from him. His mind for this business is so incredible.”

Carmella cited pitching her alliance with James Ellsworth as an example of a “crazy idea” McMahon embraced. She believes he respected her proactive approach: “I didn’t sit in the corner and take what was given. I always tried to make the most of whatever I was given and I would try to have feedback and collaborate.”
