Recently, WWE star Carmella was interviewed by Metro.co.uk to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Carmella has been with WWE since 2013. After several years in developmental and on NXT, Carmella finally made her main roster debut in 2015. In her time on the main roster, Carmella became the first-ever winner of the Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder match and captured the SmackDown Live Women’s Title.
She’s currently aligned with R-Truth on SmackDown Live, as they together won the second season of WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge tournament. During her conversation with Metro.co.uk, Carmella was asked what the best piece of advice she has ever heard in wrestling was. Carmella mentioned something she heard in Kurt Angle’s Hall Of Fame speech in 2017:
“Something I took away from Kurt Angle’s Hall of Fame speech was never be afraid to make a fool of yourself and don’t take yourself too seriously. I really let that sink in and ran with it. In my career I’ve had several different paths and character turns.
“I was a manager in NXT, then I was the last draft pick and then with James Ellsworth as a champion. I feel it’s important to show different sides of my character and I never take myself too seriously. I’ll never be like ‘oh that’s too silly for me’ or ‘Carmella’s too cool for that’. Any opportunity I get I want to make the most of it and I’m not afraid to look like an idiot.”
