WWE backstage interviewer Cathy Kelley has revealed that she was recently diagnosed with autism.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Kelley said the diagnosis has reframed how she understands herself, particularly in social settings. “I was recently diagnosed with autism, and I recognize that that changes a lot of the social dynamics that I have,” she said, adding that when she describes herself as introverted, “I feel like it’s a little bit more than a typical person would be.”
Kelley, who called herself “pretty introverted” and “pretty low key nowadays,” said she places a high value on self-work and learning about herself, with a longstanding interest in psychology that shapes how she watches everything from reality television to her own segments.
She credited Kevin Owens as a particularly important source of support. Naming him as one of her closest friends in WWE, Kelley said Owens “has been super supportive, especially since the diagnosis, since he knows so much about it because of his son.” She described him as “very grounded” and “a good person to go to for advice, because he’ll be direct about it and give you a really good answer.”
