Chael Sonnen/WWE update, crowd boos removed from last week’s Smackdown

– Here’s an update on Chael Sonnen and WWE. Chael, who said several weeks ago that he would be headed to WrestleMania weekend, will just be going to WrestleMania and will not be at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. He will be at a Garth Brooks concert in Sacramento on Saturday night instead so it doesn’t seem like he’d have much time for a business meeting. Also, he has a job with ESPN.

Basically, it was just Sonnen looking for publicity as much as anything. Wanderlei Silva was supposedly going to meet with WWE but there hasn’t been much said about that since Sonnen talked about it during an interview on TSN’s Off The Record a few weeks ago. I doubt that WWE would want to sign Silva considering his age and the wear and tear on his body. Plus, he’s still under contract to UFC even though UFC can’t use him right now since he is not able to be licensed because he skipped out on a drug test.

– There were several segments on last week’s Smackdown where they edited in fake crowd cheering. One of the segments was for the Tatsumi Fujinami Hall of Fame announcement. In the arena the announcement got complete silence (since most fans there probably don’t know who he is) but it got cheers on the TV broadcast. They also eliminated boos from Roman Reigns’ promo and there was an edit from a spot where Bryan was booed heavily. Basically they just edited out the spot in the match.
