Charlotte Flair explains why WWE shouldn’t unify the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Titles

WWE has unified the WWE Championship and Universal Title into the Undisputed WWE Universal Title with Roman Reigns as the Universal Champion beating then-WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38.

Last year, the company also had SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos beat then-Raw Tag Team Champions Randy Orton and Matt Riddle to unify the tag team titles.

Charlotte Flair is the reigning WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion while Bianca Belair is the Raw Women’s Champion. Both stars will defend their titles at WrestleMania 39 as Flair goes up against Rhea Ripley while Belair takes on Asuka.

Asuka earned her title shot by winning the women’s Elimination Chamber match and Ripley punched her ticket to Mania by winning the 30-Woman Royal Rumble Match.

While speaking to Daytona Beach News-Journal, Charlotte was asked who in the company she would like to work with and she named Belair, which led to a follow-up question about WWE possibly unifying the titles.

“I don’t recommend a unification program because I feel that would mean less opportunities for the women. It was cool for one of the girls to have both titles at one time, but it takes a lot of spots away,” Flair stated.

Belair recently stated that she thinks a match with Flair would be WrestleMania main event worthy.
